Dear All,
The Patrick Moore medal is open to secondary-school teachers
of geophysics as well as astronomy. Please do pass this
message on to any school-teacher networks you are involved
in, and/or nominate a school teacher of your acquaintance.
The recipient need not be a RAS member; neither, as far
as I can see, need the nominator(s).
The deadline is a bit tight - nine working days.
Please follow the links below to get a nomination form.
Regards,
Sheila Peacock,
list co-owner.

Dear Colleague,
As you know the RAS created the Patrick Moore Medal in 2011, to recognise
particularly noteworthy contributions to astronomy or geophysics by secondary
school level teachers e.g. by significantly improving examination results,
running an active outreach programme or engaging students in extra-curricular
projects. The Medal is normally presented at the next National Astronomy Meeting,
or if this is not possible, at one of the Society’s A&G meetings.
Suggestions are invited from anyone, including teachers who wish to propose
themselves and there is no need to be a member of the Royal Astronomical
Society. Nominees should be qualified teachers who normally teach at secondary level.
Can you please circulate this notice to colleagues who may wish to suggest
candidates for the Medal? Nominations should be submitted to
[log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]> by Friday 27 September.
You can see further information, including the nomination form at

Best wishes,
Robert
