Steve,
One problem I had with VMPlayer (this may be an idiosyncratic problem
at my institution) I almost got kicked out of the network due to the
fake IPs VMPlayer was creating. Of course I then didn't have the time to
figure out whether I could do it all without creating the fake IPs, but
they seemed to be required for me to be able to bridge the VMP Linux to
my the hard drive.
I apologize if this is just due to my lack of sophistication with the
VMPlayer!
cheers
martin
