Subject: AVCE business finance exam case study - Jessica Hind
It has been difficult for my centre's students to gain marks in the exam
assessed units commensurate with their portfolio performances so I thought I
would try to pick up any hints from those on the list who deal with this
Unit. I have been going through the seen case study for this summer exam -
and have picked out the following in brief:
Accounts
It is possible to sketch out a forecast cash flow and profit and loss from
the information given but there are gaps, presumably the missing information
will be in the exam paper. There does not seem to be any significant
information relating to a balance sheet and it is possible to begin some
calculations on ratios. Sources of finance are mentioned and I can see
Working capital
There are some clear issues highlighted on this topic
Budgeting
This seems to be a possible line of questioning.
Otherwise the scenario deals with business planning and marketing as much as
finance and questions could be generally based. It all depends on what
additional information is given in the exam paper. Does anyone else have any
thoughts? I am willing to expand on the above if there any others
interested. dave milner Thomas Hardye School
