To all

Not wanting to justify the "Quest" genre or the "overcoming all odds" tale,
but the former does seem to appear in many pre-80's books whether about
disability or not. I usually put this down to the time it was written in,
post WWII people looking for meaning in Godless world, very Holden
Caulfield-esque. Sometimes seems to be influenced by existential writings
and formula - the outsider battling against the odds, either in vain or
ending in joy - there is more to explain this of course a more elaborate
literary analysis. The latter is just something that publisher (and perhaps
reader - no supply without demand) like/d.
