An introduction to XSLT
Friday 15th April 2011
The ARA Data Standards Group are pleased to announce a training day
providing a great opportunity for a hands-on practical introduction to
XSLT stylesheets. The day will focus on the use of stylesheets for
display of EAD archivial finding aids, but may be of interest to anyone
wanting to find out more about the principles of displaying XML data
through use of stylesheets. The aim is to enable delegates to create a
basic stylesheet and undertake modifications to display and format
particular parts of the data. For this course, it is helpful to
understand the basics of XML, but you do not need to have experience of
stylesheets.
The course will be run by the professional highly experienced trainer,
Richard Light, who has worked with EAD and ran a similar course for us a
few years ago, and is very good value at just £90 for members and £110
for non-members, to include refreshments and lunch.
The training day will take place at UCL in central London, Friday 15th
April 2011, 10.30-16.30. Precise location details will be provided for
delegates.
To book a place go to
http://www.archives.org.uk/images/documents/ARA_Event_Booking_Form.doc
The day will include:
Creating an XSLT stylesheet from scratch to display a basic EAD
description
Modifying the stylesheet to display selected fields
Formatting
Displaying lower-level descriptions
Delegates may have their own display issues and you will be able to
raise these on the day.
