Dear colleagues,
Over the past year, UCAS and HESA have been undertaking a review of the
Joint Academic Coding System (JACS) in order to ensure that it accurately
reflects the range of subject areas taught in higher education. HESA and
UCAS have now produced proposals for the new JAC 3 coding (to replace JACS 2).
Details at:
http://www.hesa.ac.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1414&Itemid=277
Responses to these proposals have been invited with a view to completing the
review by spring 2010 (to allow use of JACS 3 by UCAS later that year in
preparation for year of entry 2012. JACS 3 will be implemented in the
2012/13 HESA Student Record).
Colleagues are now invited to review proposals for changes and, where
necessary, to respond either generally on all of the proposals or on a
specific area that is relevant to their area of expertise.
If you have comments please email me by 1 August 2009. I will then
co-ordinate a response on behalf of SCODHE.
With best wishes,
Jayne
