Hi all,
Thank you for your help. Here is a list of the answers.
MY QUESTION:
Hi all,
Does anybody have experienced WINBUGS14 for the Linux Platform without
using wine?
I have the possibility to use the services of a scientific computing
Center.
Their computer system doesn’t support wine and graphical interfaces.
I appreciate any suggestion that could help me. Many thanks in advance
Sara

Try using JAGS, which is similar to BUGS, but improved in many ways.

or

I'm using jags which is listed in the winbugs website on Debian. So far
it works.
3)
I've run WinBUGS on a linux cluster without the gui, but it
does require wine and the Xvfb (X11 virtual frame buffer).
If you can manage to have wine installed I could provide
you with info on how to run it (it's non-trivial, though).

I've gotten OpenBUGS going under Linux. There's no graphical interface -
you have to use scripts. But it works. We're using it on a computing
cluster here.
Essentially, you just download a new version of OpenBUGS, and you may have
to compile a small C program (there's instruction in a README, or on the
web site), and then it works...
The biggest "gotcha" is that some files have to be in Unix format,
and some can be in either Unix or DOS format. It tends to show up
as bugs running and using 0 CPU time.
Let me know if that seems to fit the bill, and/or if you need any help,
Duane

I am afraid that it is not possible to do that. You can try LinBUGS
instead but you will lose the GUI. My advice is that you ask for Wine to
be installed. Best,Virgilio

I suggest you to have a look to Jags: http://www-
fis.iarc.fr/~martyn/software/jags/ I could be a good answer satisfying
your requirements. Jean-Baptiste DENIS

Currently the only way to run OpenBUGS without using the GUI is through
the BRugs interface to R. However, this is still not functional on
Linux.JAGS is a BUGS engine that runs on a wide variety of platforms,
including Linux, using a command-line interface.http://mcmc-
jags.sourceforge.net It is not as full-featured as OpenBUGS. In
particular, none of the distributions in GeoBUGS are included. Martyn
