We are developing a proposal for a special issue of Library Trends on neurodivergence and dementia and welcome expressions of interest in submitting an article. In scoping out the proposal we’re keen to hear from potential authors engaged in research and/or practice in this field. We are interested in articles exploring library services in relation to persons with autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, dyscalculia and dyspraxia, as well as all types of dementia and other forms of neurodivergence. Topics might include: resource provision; services and activities/programmes; library design; outreach services; customer interactions; support for carers; support for staff; and partnership working.
The style and tone of the journal is formal rather than journalistic or popular. Library Trends reviews current theory and practice and identifies and evaluates new directions for both practice and research. Papers must represent original work. Extensive updates of previously published papers are acceptable, but revisions or adaptations of published work are not acceptable. Issue proposals and the papers they contain are subject to rigorous external review. We’re in the early stages of developing the proposal, but we estimate that manuscripts would be due mid-2025.
If you are interested in submitting an expression of interest, please send a short abstract (75-100 words) together with your contact details to [log in to unmask] by 29th March 2024. If you have any queries please get in touch; we’re happy to answer any questions or discuss ideas for potential articles.
