Thanks for your posts. I'm ok with getting a switch (or something) to send IR codes to the PC to control it. Graeme Marsh in Newcastle pointed me to a £5 unit on ebay that works well.
My issue is finding a simple display format that can be controlled from one or two buttons or from a scanning display, and a supply of appropriate newspapers.
I've got as far as finding that the guardian does a pdf issue although it doesn't allow the "fit to page" function. There is also a pdf viewer on the guardian site & on "press display.com" which shows promise. I'm going need to invest the time to register & do trial subscription, because the website only shows the front page of each newspaper.
Has anyone tried newspapers on kindle? Reviews of the daily mail on kindle said there were so many errors is wasn't worth it.

Hi Barry
I'm using Redrat3 to control the PC with Ir, this uses a program called Redrat Control to map captured Ir from any device stored in its database to mouse control, keyboard, exe files etc.
The database can capture Ir from any source be it large button tv remote or ECE this signal is then mapped in the control software to the PC function you want to control. If you use it with keyboard shortcuts its very useful.
You can also compile macros for transmitting Ir's stored in the database, so some enviromental control from PC is also possible. Hope this helps.
