Coventry University is seeking two part-time outreach workers to support the development and delivery of the outreach programme for the Lanchester Interactive Archive, co-funded by Coventry University and the Heritage Lottery Fund. Both posts will have outreach work at the heart of their function, but one post (3 days per week) will focus more on community work, and the other (4 days per week) will concentrate on the marketing and profile of the project.
Working within the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, and based at the dedicated Lanchester Interactive Archive space (www.lanchesterinteractive.org) in the university's library building, the posts (funded to April 2019) will bring to life the amazing archive and achievements of Dr Frederick Lanchester (1868-1946), one of Britain's greatest engineers and inventors. The library holds the largest collection of Frederick's work including notebooks, blueprints, sketchbooks, photographs, patents, and correspondence. It is the biggest source of Lanchester information and knowledge in the world.
The outreach posts will work to develop audiences and content that bring Lanchester's legacy to life, through a comprehensive programme of outreach work that will engage people in his inventions, encourage them to use the archive resources, and inspire them to be creative.
Highlighting Lanchester and his ideas, which still impact on the world today, the post-holders can inspire future generations of creators, inventors and engineers. This is an opportunity to be part of a flexible innovative working environment, delivering an exciting project to a wide range of participants across Coventry and beyond.
