There have been a couple of conferences in Ireland reviewing implementation
there. There are a couple of differences between the UK and Irish FoI
Acts. The Irish legislation includes personal enquiries which would be
covered by the UK Data Protection Act. One speaker suggested that this
accounted for 60% of enquiries... Secondly, the British legislation is
retrospective, but Irish rights of access began with the Act.
