The United Reformed Church
seeks to appoint an
Archivist / Records Manager
based at Church House, Tavistock Place, London
Salary - £21,420 (pro-rata)
Full-time (35 hrs per week), 6 month fixed-term contract (initially).
The United Reformed Church House serves as the central administrative
offices for URC churches around the country. Church House currently holds a
large quantity of archive material which requires a qualified Archivist to
evaluate documents for preservation and determine their permanent location.
The post-holder will also be required to draw up a Records Management Policy
for use at Church House.
This is a great opportunity for a highly organised, confident and adaptable
Archivist/Records Manager to gain experience in the not-for-profit sector. You
will have proven experience of working with archive material and record
management and be used to liaising with senior level staff.
Candidates applying for this post will also need to:
• hold a postgraduate Diploma/ MA in Records Management and or Archival
Administration;
• possess experience of policy writing and knowledge of data protection laws;
• have a genuine interest in history and in preserving records for prosperity;
• possess an eye for accuracy and detail;
• be able to skim and understand an extensive and varied range of material;
• be able to work independently and as part of a team;
• possess good IT skills and an interest in applying new technology to archival
practice;
• have excellent communication skills for dealing with a diverse range of
people; and
• possess a willingness to work within the Christian ethos of the United
Reformed Church.
