Warwick Clinical Trials Unit (WCTU) wish to appoint two experienced statisticians (one Senior Research Fellow and one Principal Research Fellow) to work with the Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeons and allied health professionals at their facility attached to the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire (UHCW) to expand their portfolio of applied clinical research, particularly pragmatic clinical trials in trauma, orthopaedics and rehabilitation. These exciting new posts are part of a new initiative to establish surgery and rehabilitation as major themes of research within Warwick Medical School and are based mainly in a modern research facility at UHCW (one to two days a week the post-holder may work from the CTU main facility, on purpose designed premises at the University of Warwick’s Gibbet Hill campus).
For the Prinicipal Research Fellow post (https://goo.gl/4dFdX0) you will have a good honours degree or equivalent in a subject containing a substantial coverage of statistical theory, methods and practice and a taught Masters degree or equivalent in Statistics, Medical Statistics or a subject with substantial high-level statistics content. You will have a PhD or equivalent in statistics, medical statistics, epidemiology or other relevant discipline and substantial experience of clinical trials and/or epidemiological research. You will have proven ability to initiate, develop and deliver a programme of high quality research on time, a strong track record of producing high quality academic publications and the ability to make a substantial contribution to the generation of external funding to support research projects. You will have excellent communication skills, the ability to communicate statistical issues to non-statisticians and an aptitude for both applied and methodological research. For the Senior Research Fellow post (https://goo.gl/F5JEVx) you will have a good honours degree or equivalent in a subject containing a substantial coverage of statistical theory, methods and practice and a taught Masters degree or equivalent in Statistics, Medical Statistics or a subject with substantial high-level statistics content. You will have a PhD or equivalent in statistics, medical statistics, epidemiology or other relevant discipline and substantial experience of working in clinical trials and/or epidemiological research. You will have a developing track record of producing high quality academic publications and the ability to contribute to the generation of external funding to support projects. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work well individually as well as in a team. You will have the ability to communicate statistical issues to non-statisticians and an aptitude for both applied and methodological research. Interview date: 7th July 2016.
