Census data workshop: postgraduate training day
Venue: University of Manchester
Date: 15 April 2011
This workshop aims to provide postgraduate students and researchers with an introduction to the range of information available from the UK Census, and the ways in which it can be accessed. It is an ideal opportunity to gain familiarity with this unparalleled socio-economic resource through a mix of short presentations and hands-on experience in computer-based practicals, and to meet some of the staff who provide support for its use. The day will include a general introduction to the census, and to the main census outputs (aggregate and interaction statistics, boundary data, cross-sectional individual level data (SARs) and longitudinal data). No previous experience is assumed.
This workshop will include an introduction to the data services offered by Census.ac.uk and is aimed at those studying or working in the UK higher and further education sector.
