Genetic Statistician (£23,457 to £30,607 p.a.)
We are seeking a self-motivated individual with strong working knowledge of
statistics and an understanding of genetic association studies to undertake
a project involving the fine mapping and identification of genes
contributing to Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis (inflammatory bowel
disease (IBD)). This will include analysis of data derived from the landmark
Wellcome Trust Case Control Consortium study (500K marker genome-wide
association scan). The post holder will be involved analysis of genotyping
data using single- and multi-marker methods, database analysis and SNP
selection for fine mapping, publication of results and developing strategies
for further association studies.
The job will involve identification of and familiarisation with the best
statistics for analysis of whole genome data. There will also be opportunity
to develop these statistics within a world-leading environment using a live
dataset of one of the most genetically exciting and progressive complex
diseases.
Applicants wishing to work less than full time hours will also be
considered. The post will be available for two years in the first instance
and may be extended depending on the availability of funds.
