The informed choice
The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) funds teaching and
research in universities and colleges. We seek to provide the opportunity
of Higher Education (HE) to all those who could benefit from it, including
those from under-represented groups.
Analysts have a vital part to play in our work: you will collate and
analyse data, enabling HEFCE to develop policy and inform the funding that
we receive and, in turn, distribute.
You should have a good HE qualification in an analytical subject;
alternatively, you can call upon equivalent work experience. It’s also
important that you have confident communication and interpersonal skills.
Committed to your professional development, we’ll give you every
opportunity to gain experience of new systems and software. We’ll also
encourage you to develop your professional skills.
Analyst – Widening Participation
£24,077 -
£25,160
Ref: 1
Widening participation in HE is a crucial part of our mission. Our aim is
to promote and provide the opportunity of successful participation in HE to
everyone who can benefit from it. You will be responsible for managing the
allocation of around £350 million annually to support widening
participation. You’ll collate and analyse data, and be the first point of
contact for HE institutions on technical matters about widening
participation allocations. Highly analytical and technically confident, you
will oversee the work of fellow analysts and be at the heart of key project
work.
Confident working with large, complex databases, you have the ability to
summarise data and explain the results to the HE sector and non-technical
colleagues. You’re also experienced in contextualising, interpreting and
implementing policy. You’ll either have finished (or are currently
completing) a postgraduate qualification in a relevant subject, or have
several years of relevant experience.
As well as work that will make a difference to the future of HE, in an
environment where your ideas are listened to and acted upon, our benefits
package includes a final salary pension scheme and 25 days’ annual leave.
