Subject: JOB: Post-doctoral research assistant at University of Göttingen
Post-doctoral research assistant at University of Göttingen
The Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science of the
Georg-August-University Göttingen
is offering the position of a
Post-doctoral research assistant
(Salary: Pay grade 13 TV-L, 39.8 hours/week, for the duration of 1.5 years)
at the Institute of Mathematical Stochastics
with a starting date as soon as possible.
The project is funded by the DFG priority programme 1590 “Probabilistic structures in evolution” and will be concerned with stochastic population models that are of relevance in population genetics. The focus will be on populations with competition, with large variation in the offspring distribution in multi locus and spatially structured settings, and in particular on modelling the genealogies of a sample of individuals. The project is tied to the research group of Prof. Anja Sturm who may be contacted for additional information.
Prerequisite is a Ph.D. in Mathematics with a strong background in probability theory. The successful applicant would ideally have profound knowledge of stochastic process theory and an active interest in questions arising in Biology, particularly in Genetics. Applications including a cover letter, curriculum vitae, list of publications, copies of relevant academic transcripts and university degrees and the names and addresses of two references should in electronic form be sent to:
Prof. Dr. Anja Sturm
