HDRUK/Turing PhD Progtramme in Health Data Science
This four-year PhD programme in Health Data Science, led by Health Data Research UK
and supported by the Wellcome Trust, includes one year of foundational training
followed by a three-year thesis project. The programme is a collaboration between
Health Data Research UK, The Alan Turing Institute and seven partner universities;
the universities of Birmingham, Cambridge, Edinburgh, Manchester, Oxford,
University College London and Queen’s University Belfast.
The programme's underlying philosophy is that health data science requires a combination
of expertise spanning three fundamental areas: statistical, computational and health sciences.
We wish to recruit graduands from the mathematical, statistical and computational sciences
who are motivated to further develop and apply their methodological expertise within a
multidisciplinary health research setting
For October 2020 entrants, each studentship offers the following:
- tax free stipend (Year 1 rates of £19,919 for those based outside London and £22,278 for those based
in London, with increases each year);
- PhD registration fees at the UK/EU student rate (and college fees where required);
- research expenses and travel costs;
- significant support for training and help to transition to the next step of your career at the end
of your PhD
