BIOMATHEMATICS & STATISTICS SCOTLAND
Scottish Crop Research Institute, Dundee
Post-doctoral Research Scientist - statistical modelling of plant, soil
and environment
BioSS has a vacancy for a statistical modeller to join its expanding
unit at Scottish Crop Research Institute (SCRI). The unit has an
international reputation in statistical genetics and bioinformatics
built on its close working relationships with plant geneticists at
SCRI. We now wish to make a further appointment with the aim of
increasing the unit's contribution to the Institute's modelling work,
particularly in the whole plant, soil and environmental sciences. The
work will involve close collaboration with scientists in developing and
testing models, with particular emphasis on modelling change in time and
space, and across different measurement scales. There will be
opportunity to contribute to other areas of the unit's work, which
includes experimental design and analysis, statistical genetics and
biodiversity, and expert systems.
You should have a good degree in statistics or mathematics, and at least
two years postgraduate experience (preferably with a PhD or MSc).
Experience of spatio-temporal modelling would be an advantage.
Starting salary up to Stlg 22,000. The appointment will be for 2 years
in the first instance
