> Cheers Rocky, I'm with you for the reasons you gave in better words than I
could use. Of
course we are of the same vintage, but maybe we have learned that we are not
indispensable
and the department continues to function without our presence at times. I
have no fears
of session working and look forward to relaxed evenings at work (experience
teaches you
how) and midweek days walking or fishing without the weekend crowds.
The govt. know this that is why they have divided the medical profession. Don't
fool yourselves as you will be just as busy if not more so. I ask myself how
many merit awards do the BMA Committee members have among them. Merit awards,
discretionary points and now the new contract. I'm in the same age group or
just about as Charlie and Rockie. I will be voting a resounding no as I owe a
debt to my younger colleagues and not a selfish self centred attitude. I can
see how it will divide the profession. I have been to a few road shows and see
them there with their calculators working out their individual salaries. Come
on chaps why did we come into medicine?
The days of early retirement are over we'll all be working until our 70's cheer
up!!
