Hi everyone
I'd like to introduce two new members; Sally Brown and Beatriz Acevado.
BEATRIZ ACEVADO [[log in to unmask]] is a Colombian sociologist and artist
living and working in the UK. Beatriz spent over a decade working on drug
research and policy implementation during the latter stages of which she
developed her applications of aesthetic approaches and theory into
creativity in management, and has begun publishing and organizaing
conferences in this area after a string of important social policy analysis
outputs from her PhD. Her website - www.beatrizacevedo.com. - gives a better
picture than I can of the range of her work, the fantastic energy and colour
of her painting (which acts an an inspirational source for her work on
creativity), and her fascinating background. Beatriz communicates her
inefffable passion for learning with such passion, flair and humanity - even
over a cup of coffee - that she will fit into our numbers beautifully.
PLEASE check the website out!
SALLY BROWN ([log in to unmask]) is a research fellow in my department here at
York with a substantial background in health research, including her PhD.
Sally began to write about her experiences in a more creative way than the
average report a few years ago, which led her into playwriitng,
scriptwriting, screenplay writing and film making. She has now written eight
plays, seven screenplays/radio scripts, with one completed film and two in
production (one for Frames of Reference Films). Her short film Echoes was
screened on the Short FIlm Corner at the Cannes Film Festival 2007 and she
has been shortlisted in several British Film Competitions recently. Two of
Sally's short works are viewable online "The Hedge in Springtime" (performed
as par tof the Brooklyn College Festival New York 2006) at
http://www.screamingmediaproductions.com/Site/Brooklyn%202006 .html and
"Firestarter" a radio play at http://www.soundstagenorth.co.uk/page23.html.
Sally is developing a film called Lines of Flight with members of our
department and she also works extensively on creative writing workshops for
both managerial and non-managerial audiences.
I hope you'll enjoy welcoming Beatriz and Sally.
Best
