The School of Media and Communication at the University of Leeds (UK) offers a number of scholarships for doctoral research commencing in the academic year 2017-18. The School is one of the leading departments in the field in the UK with a reputation for innovative and socially engaging research. The School has a particularly strong profile in the following areas:
• Cultural production and media policy
• Global communication
• Journalism
• Political communication
• Visual and digital culture
Scholarships are merit-based and offered to candidates with a strong academic record. A convincing proposal outlining the PhD project will be essential for a successful application. A close fit with the research areas of the department will be an advantage.
Details of the available scholarships, the application process and other useful information can be found at http://media.leeds.ac.uk/pg/phd/
The scholarships are funded by the School, the University of Leeds, the ESRC and the AHRC respectively. Please note that some scholarships are for UK and EU candidates only, others are available for UK/EU and international students.
The next upcoming deadline is 1 February 2017. Applicants should normally have already received an offer for PhD study from the School before applying for the scholarship – please see the ‘how to apply’ tab for details.
