2.1 Citizen Maths: Powerful Ideas in Action – a free webinar, 6 May 2015
Citizen Maths is an open online course targeted at self-motivated adults who have decided they want to improve their grasp of mathematics at or around Level 2. In this webinar, Seb Schmoller, Citizen Maths project director, will introduce the practical case for this kind of course, and the range of inspiration behind it. Dave Pratt will talk through the design of the course, with its focus on proving insight about the power of mathematics in the lives of ordinary citizens. Graham Griffiths will present outcomes from the first run of the first part of the course and how its impact is being assessed.

3.1 Nesta launches the ‘Young Digital Makers Report’, taking stock and quantifying what is happening in the field of young people and digital making across the UK, and where the gaps remain. The report contains data from surveys of young people, their parents and teachers from across the UK - asking about attitudes and behaviours towards digital making.

4.1 Effective Management of Blended Learning - Tuesday 19th May, Nottingham
Facilitated by Dave Foord, this half day session is aimed at managers within FE and will focus on the effective management of blended learning, looking at different models of blended learning, how to strategically plan and implement and unpicking many of the issues around this area of work, in line with FELTAG recommendations.

7. Open Educational Resources
7.1 The EMMA team are delighted to announce a new progamme of free MOOCs on Computer Assisted Inquiry, Business Intelligence, Blended learning, E-learning and Lisbon and the Sea. These MOOCs are open to learners all over the world, each lasting between 6 and 8 weeks. MOOCs are offered in different European languages (Estonian, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese) with translations and transcriptions in English. Other MOOCs are foreseen in a couple of weeks.

7.2 ‘Experience better Webinar Series 2015’ free webinar led by University of Sheffield. PhD students at Sheffield are required to undertake skills training to enhance their research and employability. The University use PebblePad as a tool for students to compile an e-portfolio of training and experiences.
