Dear All,
Thanks to all who contributed to fascinating debate on appropriate
Roman numerals
for the Anno Domini 1999. For the colophon I opted for MIM, being just
delighted at learning
of support from Latinists in the Vatican.
The book in question is entitled " One Hundred and Twenty-five
Manuscripts" being the
catalogue of the Bergendal Collection of Mediaeval Manuscripts, now ready
for publication. I have
laboured over it for the past many years. This then is to convey my most
grateful thanks to all
members of the List throughout the world who helped so generously whenever
I begged for
assistance. As far as private collections go there is none larger in the
Americas. There are possibly
four as large in Europe.
