A correction: the St Roch chapel at Toulouse has given its name to a quarter to the south of Toulouse but when it was located there, I don't know. The original (or another) St Roch chapel was dedicated in May of 1503 and was located to the north of town in the suburb outside the Arnaud Bernard Gate. It was associated with the person from Montpellier described in a recent mailing who tried to heal those caught by the plague at Venice and elsewhere. This stuff comes from an ancient but generally reliable source, Guillaume (de) Catel, Memoires de l'histoire du Languedoc (Toulouse 1633), pp. 220 and 294-95.
