1. Clover Agreement

CHEST in association with University of Southampton, is pleased to
announce that it has reached agreement with Clover Publications for the
provision of the Newspaper Index (including Company Data Supplement)
and the Clover Information Index via the World Wide Web at the URL
http://clover.niss.ac.uk/
The Clover suite of databases comprises:
The Newspaper Index (including Company Data Supplement) which covers
all the quality daily newspapers - Daily Telegraph, Financial Times,
Guardian, Independent, and Times. It also covers the Observer, Sunday
Times, Economist, European, Times Education, Higher Education and
Literary Supplements. The file goes back to late 1986 for many of
these.
The Clover Information Index indexes over 80 periodicals giving a wide
subject coverage, going back to the early 1970's for some periodicals.
Each entry in both indexes has a subject heading (with extra keywords
for the web version), article title, an annotation if thought
necessary, pagination and issue details.
Full lists of titles covered by both indexes will be provided on the
Clover website, http://www.cloverweb.co.uk Subscribers to The Newspaper
Index will receive the printed cumulations free of charge.
The annual charge throughout the three years of the agreement for
Newspaper Index under this Agreement will be #335 (plus VAT) per annum
for Higher and Further Education Institutions in the UK and Ireland,
Research Councils and Associated Sites.
The annual charge throughout the three years of the agreement for
Information Index under this Agreement will be #100 (plus VAT) per
annum for Higher and Further Education Institutions in the UK and
Ireland, Research Councils and Associated Sites.
The annual charge throughout the three years of the agreement is
reduced for those sites licensing both the Newspaper Index and
Information Index to #399 (plus VAT) per annum for Higher and Further
Education Institutions in the UK and Ireland, Research Councils and
Associated Sites.
In addition Public Libraries in UK and Ireland may subscribe on an
annual basis. The annual charge for Newspaper Index under this
Agreement will be #335 (plus VAT) per annum. The annual charge for
Information Index under this Agreement will be #100 (plus VAT) per
annum. The annual charge for those sites licensing both the Newspaper
Index and Information Index is reduced to #399 (plus VAT) per annum.
Secondary and Primary Schools in the UK and Ireland (including 6th form
colleges), NHS Libraries and Registered Charities not included
elsewhere may subscribe to both indexes at an annual charge of #180
(plus VAT) per annum.
Prices may vary after 1st October 1999 for organisations that have
single year (renewable) Subscriptions.

2. Encyclopaedia Britannica Offer

CHEST is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with
Encyclopaedia Britannica International, whereby the Institutions of
Higher and Further Education in the United Kingdom, Schools and
Colleges, Primary Schools and authorised individuals at these
organisations, are able to participate in an offer for Institutional
Subscriptions to Britannica Online and Individual purchases of the
Britannica CD.
This offer is available from now until 31 December 1999 and all details
will be available shortly at:
http://www.chest.ac.uk/datasets/eb/contents.html.
These products are based on the printed version of Encyclopaedia
Britannica and the online and multimedia versions allow additional
information and facilities to be added.
If you wish to participate in this offer you need to download and fill
in either the European Licence Agreement (for institutional
subscriptions) or the Product Order form as applicable from the above
Web address.
Quote CHEST Mailing Reference 27/98 on a Purchase Order and send with
the order form direct to Encyclopaedia Britannica International
Limited. The address will be listed on the CHEST Web pages.
3. Inspec Year 2000
----------------------------------------------------
The five nominated Service Providers for this Agreement have now
provided statements concerning Year 2000 compliance.

The Year 2000 section at the bottom of the table provides a direct link
through to the individual Service Providers page and lists further
details.
4. ISI-WOS trial extension
----------------------------------------------------
The current trial for ISI Web of Science has been extended until beyond
6th November. The exact date is to be confirmed.
5. EBMR
----------------------------------------------------
EBMR (Evidence Based Medicine Review) has now been added to the
Biomedical Service Resources. If your Institution has ordered EBMR it
will shortly be added as a resource to your ATHENS resources.
6. Cities Revealed
----------------------------------------------------
As an Academic, Cities Revealed can offer you selected high resolution
aerial photographic datasets at a reduced cost through a CHEST
agreement.
