The Nottingham Poetry Society decided to book a reading by that great
figure in 20C poetry, Andrew Motion. On contacting him, he enquired
whether they could meet his usual fee:
TWO HUNDRED POUNDS plus expenses!
Being in receipt of a lottery grant, they're going ahead. I said I'd read
for half that, but I obviously don't have his gift...
