Today is also the feast of St. Augustine of Canterbury (Roman Catholic
Calender) or 26th of May (Church of England Calender). It is also special
today because of the 1400th anniversary
At the Council of Clovesho in AD 747, it was decreed that the 26th May should
be feast of St. Augustine.. In 1356 Pope Innocent VI renewed the celebration
as a holidy of obligation, amking it a double. In 1882 St. Augustine day
become universal by the whole Church.

My question:
What direct or indirect impact that Augustine had on the the church history,
and
Western Christianity? Also form histographical point of view how do you
compare the role of Augustine to that of Pope Gregory?

Happy St. Augustine day (26-27 May)
