Call for Proposals for the ALT Annual Conference 2020 closes in 2 weeks

Our Call for Proposals for the Annual Conference 2020 is still open. The ALT Annual Conference will take place on 9-11 September 2020, at Imperial College, London. Learning Technologist of the Year Awards still open for entries until 25 March

The ALT Learning Technologist of the Year Awards are still open for entries, and close on 25 March 2020. The awards celebrate and reward excellence in Learning Technology, and categories cover Individuals, Teams, and Research Projects. Supporting Members during industrial action

We are taking action to support ALT Members who are taking part in forthcoming strike action in the UK. University and College Union (UCU) announced strike action on pensions and on pay and working conditions, from Thursday 20 February - Friday 12 March. 2. News, events, courses and calls for proposals

International Conference on Visual Literacies and Visual Technologies for Teaching, Learning and Inclusion – 12th May 2020, Athens, Greece: Call for Abstracts

This conference explores how visual learning technologies (e.g. digital comics, video, virtual and augmented reality) can contribute to addressing challenges in teaching, learning and inclusion. The conference includes a workshop on comics for inclusive English language learning and showcases an new mobile app and open educational resources. You are invited to submit a 300-word abstract by 13th March to [log in to unmask] 

Registration is FREE for all participants. Accommodation will be provided to participants from outside Greece (subject to approval on a first come, first served basis as numbers are limited). This conference is hosted by the CIELL consortium, co-funded by the ERASMUS+ Programme of the European Union. Survey on use of digital comics for teaching and learning English as a Foreign Language, open until 13th March 2020.

We are carrying out a survey on the use of digital comics in teaching and learning. This will involve answering 16 questions and you can skip any that you do not want to answer. It should take about 10-15 minutes. This survey from the CIELL consortium (http://ciell.eu) is co-funded by the ERASMUS+ Programme of the European Union. We are a consortium of learning technologists, educational researchers and artists who are developing open educational resources for teaching. Call for proposals - ucisa DCG and DEG Spotlight on Digital Capabilities

This year, we are focusing on students: ‘Engaging students with digital capabilities’. We welcome proposals for the following themes:

  • Embedding digital capabilities in the curriculum
  • Building digital capabilities for employability
  • Developing digital capabilities with flexible learners (e.g. distance learners, commuter students, part-time, apprenticeships)
  • Collaborating with staff and students on digital capabilities initiatives

ALT West Midlands meeting: Accessible learning

Booking is now open for an ALT West Midlands regional group meeting at the University of Warwick on Monday 27th April 2020. Join us and share how your institutions are designing more accessible learning environments and resources.

The meeting will be held in the Experimental Teaching Space at University of Warwick and hosted by Kerry Pinny (Senior Academic Technologist).
