The AI Ethics & Society research group is very excited to announce this call for submissions to the Critical Perspectives on Artificial Intelligence Ethics (CPAIE20), which will be taking place on April 23 - 24th 2020 in Edinburgh.

CPAIE20 is organised by the AI Ethics & Society research group<https://www.eca.ed.ac.uk/research/ai-ethics-society?fbclid=IwAR1lPVMTeTCIV8iLAmp0cO7Td-z_sRz28aOzbcFazTFLVv7QD5wptIRlFm0>, which facilitates multidisciplinary discussions of pivotal topics in AI Ethics via seminars, reading groups, and workshops.

We are delighted to introduce our speakers: opening keynote Alex Taylor from City University of London, closing keynote Shannon Vallor from the University of Edinburgh, and an invited talk from Ben Green, Harvard University.

List of general topics:

  *   Intersectionality in Algorithmic Systems
  *   Sustainability and AI
  * Hidden Costs of AI in Healthcare and Public Services
  * Diversifying Conceptualisations of AI Ethics
  * Experimental Art as a Vanguard for Speculative Ethics
  * Sociological and Historical Dynamics in the Framing of AI

Submission guidelines

Paper sessions will be composed by the Organising Committee based on the individual paper abstracts submitted. Panels are sessions that bring together a group of presenters with contributions on a topic related to the themes. The session format will engage the panellists and audience in interactive discussions and represent a diversity of views on the topic. Each presentation will last 15 minutes.

Abstracts should consist of:

  *   Name(s) of Author(s)
  *   Affiliation(s) of Author(s)
  *   Proposed Title of Paper
  *   A 500 word abstract

Poster presentations

  *   Name(s) of Author(s)
  *   Affiliation(s) of Author(s)
  *   Proposed Title of Poster
  * An abstract of up to 250 words

Submission criteria:

Interested conference participants are invited to submit abstracts for this proposal. Due to the limited number of sessions, authors are limited to one first author submission for a paper. Authors can be second author on other papers, but should not be the (primary) presenter.
