The Heads of E-Learning list has just been discussing how to continue services in China with the current outbreak - and what would happen if the situation escalates in the UK.
I have just sent the message below which may be of general interest.

We are piloting Wiseflow for online exams and whilst I'm awaiting an official response from the assessments team this may be one of the routes we would consider if the exam could not be cancelled (UK and overseas). Further discussions would be needed on the actual practice.

We already used Turnitin for paper assignments and that has been in place for several years - so no change.

Flexible working policies already in place for staff and academic systems can be accessed from any location for staff.

With regards to Blackboard and Collaborate use in China, I have pasted below the current information from Blackboard (which indicates webinar tools are not always blocked although bandwidth may be poor in some areas)

Collaborate:

Blackboard Learn

Blackboard have also added:
"The Collaborate FAQ documents includes an offer of a 30 day free trial of Collaborate that can typically be provisioned within 48 - 72 hours. Blackboard will review the length of the Free trial depending on how the situation in China develops.

If you are not currently a client of Blackboard, are interested in taking up this offer or want to establish a point of presence in Australia, then their point of contact is Ben Warwick [[log in to unmask]] otherwise speak to your Blackboard Account Manager."

Fingers crossed that the situation does not develop further.
