We are seeking applicants whose expertise will enhance and extend our existing areas of research, in topics including theoretical studies in cosmology and gravitation, and exploitation of the next generation of astronomical observatories such as the European Extremely Large Telescope and the James Webb Space Telescope. We encourage applications from scientists with a record of high-quality research publications, as well as evidence of impact (innovation and/or public engagement) and external grant funding (which may include research fellowships). We particularly encourage applications from traditionally under-represented groups in physics. The ICG and the University of Portsmouth hold Athena SWAN bronze awards, demonstrating a commitment to organisational and cultural practices that promote gender equality and create a better working environment for women and men. The ICG is home to 16 academic staff, 17 postdoctoral researchers and over 30 PhD students, and has an active international visitors programme. Portsmouth is a member of the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS-IV), the Dark Energy Survey (DES), the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI), the Large Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST), and the Laser Interferometric Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) science collaboration, with involvement in several other major international collaborations, including ESA's Euclid satellite mission and the Square Kilometre Array (SKA). The University of Portsmouth is a member of the South-East Physics Network (SEPnet) and hosts the SCIAMA supercomputer including a new upgrade with 896 cores and 8.4 TB distributed memory.
