The Center on Privacy & Technology <https://www.law.georgetown.edu/privacy-technology-center/> at Georgetown Law is a think tank focused on privacy and surveillance law and policy—and the communities they affect. The Center is seeking a Institute Associate, which is a term position for 18 months, but may be extended upon mutual agreement if additional funding is secured by the Center. S/he conducts research, analyzes proposed policies, evaluates the effects of existing policies, and reports findings. S/he applies general level knowledge and principles of function to solve problems requiring the identification and analysis of non-routine factors. Reporting to the Founding Director, and possibly reporting on a project-basis to other members of the Center's staff, the Institute Associate has additional duties that include but are not limited to:

  *   Conducts research and analyzes existing policies and policy proposals.
  *   Writes memos and reports based on research findings.
  *   Presents on research findings to academic community, legislators, or media as requested.
  *   Assigns research assistants research projects, meeting with research assistants about assigned research projects.
  *   Reviews research assistants projects, serving as a resource as a privacy expert for the Georgetown community.
  *   Supports the ongoing work of the Center, assisting with Center administration as needed.

Requirements and Qualifications

  *   Bachelor's Degree
  *   Excellent research and writing skills
  *   Commitment to the Center's mission

Preferred Requirements and Qualifications

  *   J.D. or Master's degree
  *   Ability to work independently
  *   Ability to seek, take, and adapt to feedback
  *   Ability to work well as part of a small team
