Save the Date! Education, Open Participation and Democracy: Critical Reflections

ALT and Wikimedia Deutschland are inviting you to an open evening “Education, open participation and democracy: critical reflections”. The event will focus on the ways in which Openness, individuals and communities can foster a participatory and democratic culture in Open work and in society in general. The event will take place on Nov 27th, 2019, from 4pm – 10pm (CEST), in the main offices of Wikimedia Deutschland in Berlin. Full information here:

The Social Media for Learning in HE Conference 2019 #SocMedHE19 will take place at Edgehill University on 19 December 2019. This year’s theme is ‘Pedagogy and Practice’. Call for Papers & Presentations: iLRN 2020 - 6th Immersive Learning Research Network Conference (IEEE technically co-sponsored conference on VR/AR/MR/XR for learning)

The annual conference of the Immersive Learning Research Network (iLRN) is the premier scholarly event focusing on advances in the use of virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality, and other eXtended reality (XR) technologies to support learners and learning. From 21 to 25 June 2020, leading scholars and professionals operating in formal education settings as well as those representing diverse industry sectors will converge on the historic and picturesque coastal city of San Luis Obispo, California, USA. The Call for Papers (Academic Stream) and for Proposals (Practitioner Stream + Workshops, Panels, Special Sessions, Demos) can be found at . The main-round submission deadline is 6 January 2020; there will also be a late submission round in which only selected submission types will be considered. iLRN 2020 is technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Education Society, with proceedings to be submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore®. 

IFIP TC3 OCCE 2020 Conference: Empowering Teaching for Digital Equity and Agency

Key themes within the main topic of the conference - ‘Empowering teaching for digital equity and agency’ - are:

•        Teacher empowerment, training and professional development with ICT

•        Computing and computer science education

•        Digital equity and agency

•        Developing uses of technologies in informal and formal learning situations

•        Developing effective teaching practices and pedagogies

•        Inclusive technologies, adaptive technologies and accessibility

Take an active role and be involved in discussions to consider concerns and approaches for the future of technology for empowering teaching, training and professional development with ICT.
