Creativity and Risk: Practices of Learning to Leap into The Unknown

School of Performance and Production, University of South Wales, Cardiff, Cardiff Campus, ATRiuM

Friday 6th September 10.30am-5pm

This symposium brings media educators and industry professionals together to debate the relevance of supporting students to take creative risks in preparation for employment in the creative industries. Academic presentations will focus on pedagogical practices of teaching creative risk to (often risk averse) under- graduates. Industry represented by film developers, commissioners, producers, and independent filmmakers will critically reflect on their experiences of cultivating creative risk within a highly pressurised, contingent and complex industrial environment of film and television production.

The programme features:

2 Keynotes followed by discussant sessions

Keynote: Dr. Rea Dennis (Deakins University, Melbourne)

Keynote: Pauline Burt (Chief Executive Officer, Ffilm Cymru)

There will be a poker player workshop open to all delegates during the lunch time.

£25.00 Registration fee covers tea, coffee, lunch and the wine reception
