ICMR2020 - Call for Special Sessions, Tutorials and Workshops Dublin, Ireland, 8-11 June 2020 ACM ICMR 2020 is seeking expressions of interest from organisers of Special Sessions, Workshops and Tutorials. ACM ICMR is a core-B ranked international conference that can expect to attract upwards of 200 attendees annually. Special Sessions allow the organisers to host a topic-specific session at the conference on innovative and frontier topics in the field of multimedia retrieval. A special session should provide an overview of the state-of-the-art and highlight research directions in a field of special interest to ICMR participants. Special sessions can have a panel-like format, with short presentations from authors, followed by a panel discussion led by the special session chair. Each special session should be a focused effort rather than defined broadly, attracting the presentation of innovative contributions in the targeted narrow domain. Each special session should target around 4-6 accepted oral papers. Special session papers, which can be invited or submitted, should be 6-8 pages in length. The session organisers will be responsible for the selection of these papers, in collaboration with ICMR PC chairs. All special session papers will be reviewed by members of the ICMR 2020 PC and included in the ACM conference proceedings of ICMR 2020. Workshops should be half-day or full-day events and should be topically related to the topics of interest for ICMR, which are shown below. The purpose of workshops is to provide a platform for presenting novel ideas and research results in a focused and more interactive way. Workshops are encouraged to be as dynamic and interactive as possible and should lead to a concrete outcome, such as the publication of a summary paper and/or workshop proceedings. The information required for a workshop proposal is on the conference website. A summary paper of the workshop will be published in the conference proceedings and the workshop papers will be published in the workshop proceedings of ACM ICMR 2020. Tutorials inform the community on recent advances on core research topics, or novel application areas related to the topics of interest for ICMR, which are shown below. They may focus on specific problems or specific domains in which multimedia retrieval methods may be applied. Tutorial length can be either a half-day or a full day. Tutorials are encouraged to be as interactive as possible. A summary of the tutorial will be published in the conference proceedings. The following information should be included in any proposal: - Title of the proposed special session, workshop or tutorial - Abstract (stating the importance of the topic and the rationale for the session/workshop/tutorial) - Names and affiliations of the organisers (including brief bios and contact information) - List of potential authors willing to submit paper (including a tentative title) for workshops and special sessions - Overview of topics to be presented if the submission is for a tutorial and a review of the expected learning outcomes for participants - Workshop goals/objectives coupled with desired outcomes - Format/structure of the session, workshop or tutorial: planned activities, tentative schedule of events etc. - Indicate if the session, workshop or tutorial is related to or follows on from a previous activity; if so, please identify which conference it was previously held at, the past attendance and outcomes, and why another activity is needed Proposals will be evaluated based on topic appropriateness for ICMR, its relevance and potential impact in the targeted field, the experience of the organisers, the potential in attracting high quality submissions, and the overall quality of the written proposal. Those who are interested in organising a special session, workshop or tutorial should submit a proposal in PDF with the above requirements by email to the session co-chairs ([log in to unmask]). All papers in the special sessions or workshops should follow the same style as the regular ICMR2020 papers.
