Dear All,

I was kindly suggested by Paul Brown to forward my research to this e-list.

I am a student from the MA Curating the Art Museum at the Courtauld Institute of Art, London.
Under the supervision of Martin Caiger-Smith, I am currently writing a dissertation about Virtual Art and how the art world is approaching it. The research will also consider the fundamental questions for collecting VR and commissioning new works, as well as exhibiting VR in the museum and gallery.

Due to its participatory and collaborative condition, I firmly believe that Virtual Art, will/is challenging the museum 'brain frame'.
I want to share this debate with all of you and to ask the following questions:

- Is Virtual Art collectable as any other form of art, and what might be the main challenges? (e.g. archive; new media ephemerality; etc.)
- Will Virtual Art, due to its collaborative, time-based, democratic and technological approach, help in reframing the museum structure?

I would appreciate if you could help me by contributing to the research.
Thanks in advance to all of you for your time and consideration.

Kind regards,

Valeria
