medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture
There might be something in: Mary W. Helms, "Before the Dawn. Monks and the Night in Late Antiquity and Early Medieval Europe," Anthropos 99.1 (2004): 177-191.

Hello,

I am looking into bedtime customs in the later Middle Ages and their connection with ideas about sleep found in Aristotle and Galen. Asides from Dutton's and Kruger's books about dreaming, I have had trouble finding conceptualizations of sleep from earlier in the Middle Ages.

Can anyone point me to some sources or discussions of the topic?

Thank you,
