medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture I wasn't told that when I had a guided tour round a few years ago (doesn't mean there isn't one). We walked around in the church area for quite a while and saw no stream (or trace of a stream going underground) that I noticed. It is very close to the beach. At Saint-Antoine du Rocher, about 7 miles north of Tours, the tiny original church of the village has the apse ambulatory cut into the crag of rock, with a stream running down outside, but there was no matching legend that I could find (several English cathedrals with springs under the east end, of course: Wells, Winchester, Salisbury. And another, and one just outside the church at Bryn Glas/Pilleth in mid-Wales).
