Hi all
This is a first version of one of the slides I intend to show at the first Users Forum - This is the list of current projects we are working on and I plan to include my assessment of status, priority, effort required and effort available.
This is a critical part of our long term planing for GENIE4. I hardly need to defend the idea that everybody who is working on a development should be able to state the scope of the development and the exact deliverable(s). Then, if your thinking/work has advanced into an analysis and planning stage, you should be able to describe a work plan with some concrete milestones and tasks (preferably with dates) that we can use to monitor progress. Finally, the design of whatever it is you are working on should be thought through and described in detail.
Please let me know if there are projects that I miss and please direct your efforts towards advancing your project to D3, by making sure that you have obtained agreement on the scope, deliverables, milestones and design.
Tentative goal is for the GENIE4 release to coincide with the start of data-taking of the full SBN programme in Q1 2020. The scope for GENIE4 includes primarily a complete retune of all modelling aspects, including hadronization and nuclear cross-section retunes, and a revamp of the Reweight product to fully support all new tunes (including support for the intrinsically non-reweightable parameters). Against this background, any single modelling improvement has a lower priority and there should be no hesitation to drop any modelling aspect that doesn’t seem to progress fast enough to meet the Q1 2020 goal.
Kind regards
C
