medieval-religion: Scholarly discussions of medieval religion and culture

apologies for cross-posting

I have just posted two large pages of photographs to my online archive.
In case anyone on the list does not know them, the bronze Bernward Doors
in Hildesheim (1007-1015) are among the major works of Ottonian art,
with paired Old Testament and Christian scenes in relief sculpture.

The Stavelot Triptych (c.1156-58 with earlier Byzantine enamels) depicts
episodes from the life of Constantine and the finding of the True Cross,
and perhaps (as Cynthia Hahn argues, if I remember correctly) introduced
the triptych form into western medieval art.

As always, please feel free to use these images in your presentations
and teaching.
all best,
Genevra
