In 2017 ILIG presented the first Alan Hopkinson award. It went to Charlie Brown, a young librarian from Bristol. Charlie took up the award with enthusiasm and made the most of her opportunity.  Networking with librarians from all over the globe inspired her to volunteer to help on a mobile library in Greece helping the plight of recently arrived refugees.

Charlie will tell her story of her learning time in Wroclaw at the IFLA Conference and her subsequent adventures in Greece.

She will therefore encourage delegates and others to follow her path in applying for this years Alan Hopkinson award which is appropriately in Greece in the lovely city of Athens

ILIG Informals are not lectures; they are informal, early evening social gatherings followed by a short talk on a theme of international interest plus plenty of time for questions and networking. They are open to all and absolutely free.  Light refreshments are served which is why we ask you to let ILIG know you are coming by booking
