I would like to draw your attention to an exciting opportunity to join the University of Kent as Digital Archivist, covering an 8 month fixed term maternity period.

 

The Digital Archivist will specialise in the digital preservation of Special Collections and Archives materials to support the long term preservation and use of these collections in teaching, learning and research activities. The role will also focus on developing and maintaining collections information, on discovery and access, and supporting collection care activities for special collections and archives.

The Digital Archivist will:

·         Develop and refine workflows for complex digital migration, applying standards and understanding needs of stakeholders

·         Manage or assist with digital curation projects in conjunction with curation & discovery manager and special collections & archives

·         Assist in assessment and appraisal of existing collections and potential acquisitions, and produce estimates of resources required for their management, giving advice on conservation, preservation, digital quality and IPR issues

·         Advise users on IPR and copyright issues related to collections, in a way that is consistent with copyright law and university guidelines

·         Assist in the interpretation and translation of metadata and data between library, archive and research information systems and contribute to the development of discovery interfaces and web resources to aid discovery of collections

·         Line manage one Library Assistant, and supervise library staff, irregular workers and volunteers, to maintain appropriate service levels and deliver projects within the Information Services Operational Plan
