We are considering introducing an annual stock-check closure and I would be grateful to receive advice from services which already do this. It would be particularly helpful to know:

* How long do you close for?

* When do you close and is it the same time each year? Is this planned around seasonal variation in visitor numbers, or something else?

* Do you continue to answer research enquiries during the closure period? If so, do you respond to all enquiries, or just urgent one (e.g. internal enquiries from your organisation)?

* How much notice do you give service users prior to each closure?

* Have you received negative (or positive) feedback from service users?

* Did you undertake stakeholder consultation before introducing the stock-check?

All responses will be very helpful and I will provide a summary for the list if that would be of interest to other services.

Thank you very much,

Ishbel
