Would someone shed some light on current PC terminology.

For a long time now the term 'queer' has been deemed highly offensive in the UK, yet I see that the term 'queering' has recently drifted across the Atlantic from the US as the go-to word. A similar UK/US issue has arisen between the terms 'coloured' and 'person of colour'.

Queering the Archives

FREE training opportunity

Based around the development of ‘Queering Glamorgan: A Research Guide to Sources for the Study of LGBT History’, this session will instruct participants in recognising, and searching for, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) content in historic material.

By the end of the course participants will have an understanding of the complex language used to identify LGBT people and events in the archival record, and how to publicise that content.  They will be able to set up research projects in their own institutions and oversee volunteers/staff undertaking projects to identify LGBT content.

Training will be facilitated by LGBT Researcher Norena Shopland.  See below for full programme.
