*** APOLOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING ***
Dear colleagues,

We kindly invite you to participate in the 1st IFAC Workshop on Control of Transportation Systems (WCTS 2019), which will be held on June 30 - July 1, 2019, at Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel.
The main scope of the WCTS 2019 is the development of automatic control theory for the purpose of redefining and redesigning advanced integrated traffic management systems to improve our cities to become more energy-efficient, sustainable, and livable. With the impending advent of fully autonomous vehicles in the future, their impact on the city traffic is not yet clear, given that current traffic management is limited to conventional vehicles. Autonomous vehicles will introduce a paradigm shift in traffic management. It will include new management structure, goals, and means which might require us to develop new control methods, tools, and schemes.
Technical topics of the conference include (but are not limited to):
- Control of connected and automated vehicles
- Modeling and control of mixed autonomous and conventional traffic
- Large-scale urban traffic management
- Planning and management of public transportation
- Safety and security in future transportation systems
- Vehicle automation and communication systems
- Multimodal transport modeling, monitoring, and control
- Simulation tools and commercial software
- Future automated highway systems
- Ramp metering and speed limit control
- Urban mobility systems
- New technologies for control in transportation
- Energy control in transportation
- Human factors in traffic and transportation control
- Freight transportation
- Rail transportation modeling and control systems
- Maritime transportation planning and control
- Control and scheduling of air transportation
- Modeling and control of road traffic networks
The workshop program will include several sessions, keynote lectures, and social events. WCTS 2019 will provide an interesting opportunity for the academic and industrial communities to investigate new ideas, to share innovative solutions, and to discuss future research directions of control in transportation systems.

The deadline for the submission of papers is December 23, 2018.
