Postdoctoral Research Position in Environmental Heterogeneous Catalysis at Yale-NUS College and the National University of Singapore

We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to participate in studies of the mechanisms of oxidation and reduction catalysis in exhaust gas remediation. The focus of this research is on the use of in-situ and operando studies of real and model catalysts of interest in the Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC) and the Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) stages of heavy duty truck exhaust remediation systems. The studies use X-ray absorption spectroscopy carried out at the Singapore Synchrotron Light Source, and Near Ambient Pressure X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy measurements in the NUS Department of Chemistry. This research is a collaboration with scientists in the Department of Chemical Engineering at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm and the Department of Chemistry of the National University of Singapore. It is funded by a three-year research grant from the Ministry of Education of Singapore.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. in chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering or a related field, with expertise in one or more of the following areas: heterogeneous catalysis, photoelectron spectroscopy (ambient pressure methods a plus), synchrotron based XAS methods (XAFS, XANES), surface science UHV methods. A documented publication record in internationally circulated, peer-reviewed journals is essential. The initial appointment is full-time for one year with possible extension based upon satisfactory progress. The position is available immediately, and applications will be considered until the position is filled.
The work will be carried out in the research group of Professor Steven Bernasek, in laboratories at Yale-NUS College and on the NUS main campus.
