Tenure Track Human Geography position at University of Nevada, Reno*


The Department of Geography at the University of Nevada, Reno invites
applications for a tenure-track faculty appointment at the Assistant
Professor level with expertise in urban geography, with an expected start
date of July 1, 2019. The position is based in the College of Science.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Geography or related field at the time of
appointment, disciplinary specialty in Human Geography and a strong
commitment to excellence in research and teaching. The department seeks
applicants whose focus is mainly urban with preferred research interests in
one of the following: urban political geography, postcolonial urban theory,
and/or infrastructure studies though other concentrations will be
considered. The department seeks a scholar who can contribute to key
theoretical debates in human geography through the lens of an empirically
based research program. Ability to teach courses in qualitative and/or
mixed-methods, in addition to courses in the Globalization, Politics, and
Place specialization, is expected. Additional qualifications include a
capability to secure external funding, potential for creating synergies
with existing Department strengths, and the ability to strengthen the
graduate and undergraduate programs in Geography through course offerings
and mentoring. Startup funds are available for this position.

*Required Qualifications*

PhD in Geography or related field at time of appointment. Disciplinary
specialty in Human Geography.

*Preferred Qualifications*

Expertise in Urban Geography with research interests in urban political
geography, postcolonial urban theory, and/or infrastructure studies.
