Many thanks for this David, that is really useful. I presume you run the test 24/7?

Kind regards

Hi Avril,

Our laboratory also serves 3 labs in North East England with a similar population coverage as yours.

As part of agreed SLAs, we have accepted NT pro-BNP requests on all 3 hospital sites for acute heart failure since the NICE guidelines came out in 2014.

Our workload is approximately 820 per month of which about 20% is secondary care.

Hope this helps.

David

Dear colleagues

I would be grateful to pick your collective brains please?

Are any of you offering NTproBNP (or even BNP) in secondary care, looking for acute heart failure? We have a directive suggesting that we offer this service, even though at present we only offer the test for chronic heart failure in the community. The trouble is we have no idea of the scale of this, and what size of workload we might expect.

Does anyone have experience of this? We are a population of 700,000 covered by 3 laboratories.

Thanks in advance and merry Christmas to you all!

Avril
