Council for Learning Resources in Colleges announces Peer Accreditation Assessment Award
The Council for Learning Resources in Colleges (CoLRiC) is delighted to announce that following their Peer Accreditation Assessment in October, Oldham Sixth Form College’s
learning resource service “The Know” was awarded Grade 1: Excellent.
CoLRiC assessors visited the College to evaluate the quality and impact of the Learning Resources service through meetings with key members of teaching
and support staff and a representative range of students. The key focus of the review was on the impact of Learning Centres on curriculum development and the contribution toward retention and achievement successes. Their findings were then compared to a constructed
standard of an excellent service. This is in the form of a list of criteria against which the Service is compared.
The Assessment report stated, “there is complete engagement and collaboration across the College and ‘buy-in’ to the work of The Know team and its range
of services and resources”. The report also stated that “there is a high level of respect for the work and expertise of The Know team”, and under the leadership of the Learning Resources Manager, Corinne Walker, the team are “enthusiastic and highly motivated.”
Jayne Clarke, the Principal stated, “We are very proud that the outstanding work of our team in The Know has been recognised through this award. Staff and students benefit greatly
from the fantastic support and initiatives provided through our broad learning resources offer and it’s wonderful to have achieved the best possible judgement through this very thorough assessment process.’
Corinne Walker, the Learning Resources Manager says, “We are delighted to have been awarded a Grade 1/Excellent and it’s a pleasure to work with such
highly qualified, motivated and experienced information professionals. Their hard work has been rewarded with this award”.
CoLRiC is an independent organisation working with library and learning resources centre managers in further education, sixth form colleges and the HE in FE sector to enhance and

The CoLRiC Peer Assessment Scheme provides a rigorous evaluation of your library and learning resources service within the context of the resources at its disposal. It assesses how
effectively and consistently an organisation supports the development of its library/learning resources service to support teaching and learning. The PAS assessment team are senior library and information management professionals who will provide impartial
advice for service development, and enable you to demonstrate the value and impact of your services to the wider organisation.
